History & Concept
Established in 2014, Nutmeg & Clove has consistently celebrated Singapore’s evolution from a colonial outpost to a modern metropolis. The bar’s name reflects the nation’s historical role in the spice trade. Over the years, it has relocated to its current premises on Purvis Street, continuing its mission to reinterpret Singaporean flavors into innovative cocktails. The team, led by bar manager Shelley Tai and head bartender Gavin Teravasan, strives to tell Singapore’s story through their creations.
Design & Atmosphere
Housed in an ornate shophouse, Nutmeg & Clove boasts a subtle interior painted in light pink, matching the team’s distinctive uniforms. The design incorporates elements reminiscent of traditional Chinese medicinal halls, with dark timber paneling and vintage 1960s posters. The two-story space features a mostly monochrome palette with pops of red, intricate woodwork, and a cozy ambiance that invites guests to relax and immerse themselves in Singapore’s rich cultural tapestry.
Nutmeg & Clove Menu

The latest cocktail menu, titled “TEN”, commemorates the bar’s 10th anniversary by presenting 25 cocktails, each representing significant events from the past decade. The food menu complements the drinks with modern interpretations of local dishes, offering a holistic experience of Singaporean flavors.
Cocktail Menu
- Agnes’ Requiem. A floral, dry, and fruity mix featuring Monkey 47 Gin, Raspberry Eau De Vie, Rhubarb, Galangal, Orchid, Jasmine, Lemon, and Saline. This cocktail honors Agnes Joaquim, the first woman to breed a hybrid orchid in 1893.
- Yam Seng. A tropical, creamy, and refreshing concoction made with Montelobos Espadin Joven Mezcal, Lemongrass, Pandan, Taro, Lemon, and Cream, silkened with egg white for a smooth finish. The name is derived from a traditional Singaporean toast meaning “drink to victory.”
- Don’t Chicken Out. A savory, spicy, and complex mix reminiscent of Singapore’s staple chicken rice, crafted with Bacardi Anejo Cuatro 4YO Rum, Tio Pepe Fino Sherry, Cucumber, Hainanese Chili, Lime, and a dash of MSG.
Food Menu
- Duck Rice Arancini. Braised duck risotto balls doused in a savory egg sauce, served with sambal mayo.
- Lor Bak Sandwich. A crispy ciabatta roll filled with sliced braised pork belly, braised peanut spread, pickled mustard green aioli, cilantro, and cucumber, offering a refreshing twist on the traditional banh mi.
- Suan Pan Zi. Handmade yam abacus seeds stir-fried with wood ear mushrooms, shiitake, shallot dust, toasted buckwheat, and topped with chives and an onsen egg.
- Fried Carrot Cake. A crispy turnip cake enhanced with bacon relish sauce and homemade sambal, delivering a savory delight.
