Bar Leone

Located in Hong Kong’s bustling Central district, Bar Leone is a stylish and intimate cocktail bar inspired by classic Italian drinking culture. Opened in mid-2023, this venue has quickly gained a loyal following, offering a warm and unpretentious atmosphere where expertly crafted drinks take center stage. With a philosophy of “cocktail popolari”—cocktails for the people—Bar Leone delivers timeless drinks with efficiency, precision, and a deep respect for traditional Italian hospitality.
History & Concept
Founded by Lorenzo Antinori, a veteran of the bar industry, Bar Leone was born from a desire to strip away unnecessary complexities in mixology and return to the roots of great hospitality. After working in some of the world’s most renowned establishments, Antinori envisioned a bar where every guest could enjoy high-quality, thoughtfully crafted cocktails in a laid-back and inviting setting.
Inspired by Rome’s local neighborhood bars, Bar Leone combines a no-fuss approach to mixology with a strong emphasis on flavor, balance, and speed. Unlike ultra-modern cocktail lounges that focus on molecular techniques, this bar prioritizes straightforward yet technically perfect drinks, ensuring every sip is as satisfying as the last.
Design & Atmosphere
Stepping into Bar Leone is like taking a short trip to an old-school Roman watering hole, reimagined for a modern audience.
- Interior Style. Vintage Italian charm meets contemporary elegance, with warm lighting, dark wood finishes, and a welcoming ambiance.
- Football Nostalgia. The walls are adorned with framed football jerseys, a nod to Italy’s deep-rooted passion for the sport.
- Signature Soundtrack. An eclectic mix of Italo disco, classic rock, and opera (including Pavarotti) creates a dynamic and immersive environment.
- Seating Arrangement. The bar is designed to encourage conversation, with a mix of cozy booths and an inviting counter space.
With its effortlessly cool yet nostalgic aesthetic, Bar Leone provides the perfect setting for both casual drinks and late-night gatherings.

Bar Leone does not accept reservations — the bar operates strictly on a walk-in basis. This policy applies to all nights, including weekends and holidays. There is no online booking system, no phone reservations, and no table holds.
Due to Bar Leone’s growing popularity and limited seating, especially on the rooftop, it’s common for guests to wait in line. Many guests suggest arriving right at opening time to secure a good spot, especially if you’re in a group.
There is no cover charge, deposit, or entry fee — Bar Leone follows a first-come, first-served policy. Once you’re in, simply find an available table or spot at the bar and enjoy.

Reviews
I ended up at Bar Leone kind of by accident, but what a lucky find! The vibe there is super relaxed but still stylish – like a mix between old-school Italy and modern cocktail culture. It’s not huge place, which I actually loved cause it feels more personal.
The bartenders really know what they’re doing. I asked for something “bitter but not too strong” and they made me this drink with campari and… some other stuff I don’t remember, haha – but it was amazing. My friend got this martini twist that was served with a little snack, very cool touch.
Also – small thing but important – the music was on point. Chill, not too loud. You can actually talk to the people you’re with, which is rare these days.
We didn’t eat there (not sure if they have full food menu?), but someone next to us had this sandwich that smelled insane. I might come back just to try that 😄
Honestly, one of the best bar experiences I’ve had in a while. Not pretentious, just good drinks, good vibes. I’d go again for sure.
